I usually don’t feel qualified to comment on the translation, even though I sometimes swear I heard different things, but what’s up with the erasure of rice balls at 17:17? While it’s obviously not an important detail, I don’t see why it would be edited out either.

No particular reason. Just more natural dialogue to ask someone if they want something to eat after having not eaten all day than to be ultra-specific.
