Spy x Family – Episode 02

Anya’s cute.

Here’s episode 2, and hopefully we catch up soon! This episode features incredibly efforted song styling which Light spent way more time on than he should’ve.

Ascendance of a Bookworm – Episode 28

A little faster than last week, but I believe we can do even better next week.
The further we go into this season of Bookworm, the more the anime skips. Lots of lines are actually impossible to translate without the additional context from the novel. Sigh…
Anyway, enjoy!

Kaguya-sama: Love is War S3 – Episode 01

Pictured: the faces of all GJM Kaguya staff when we saw how much typesetting there was in episode 1 despite being prepared for a typesetting hell.

So this took much, much longer than we expected, but a lot of it was also scheduling issues. The good news is that episode 2 is almost ready (I’ve been told the remaining few signs should be done by Sunday). Since we have so many typesetters on the project (4 on episode 1, 6 on episode 2) we were able to split the work in such a way that both episodes were being typeset at the same time, which should allow us to maybe catch up if episode 3 has less signs (please, God, Buddha, Myne, give us a break!).

In the meantime, enjoy episode 1!

Spy x Family – Episode 01

Pictured: Everyone’s faces as they see GJM pick up another show this season.

But hey, it’s not what you’re thinking! This project is mostly done by Kaleido staff, so it does not impact Kaguya and Bookworm in the slightest.
And someone has to do a good release of the best show this season, right? Right?

While the first two episodes are a Crunchyroll edit, starting from episode 3 we’ll be OTLing the series. Check the projects page for detailed staff credits.

Upon Kaleido’s request, this release contains a secondary honorifics track.

Ascendance of a Bookworm – Episode 27

The first episode took longer due to song kfx, as well as some scheduling complications. The next episodes should be done faster than this.
And before anyone asks, yes, Kaguya is next. Episode 1 is almost ready. We’re increasing the number of typesetters from episode 2 onwards to ensure a timely (expect roughly a week per episode) release.

Munou na Nana – Episode 13

I went into this anime having read the manga, and while I was suspecting they’d finish the anime around here, I definitely did not expect they’d end it… like this. If you enjoyed the anime, I recommend reading the manga to see what happens next, because, well… a lot happens next.

But the fact that I went into this knowing what would happen allowed us to prepare the ultimate plan for the last episode. I waited for this moment ever since we released episode 2. Finally, it is time for no one to notice what we did!

Um, well, if anyone does notice, please leave a comment so that we can feel good about ourselves.

And this concludes another one of our backlogged projects. More soon!

Summer Ghost (BD)

Here’s the first surprise before spring shows start! BDs for this movie came out last week, and some of us have been planning to watch it ever since we saw the trailers. Then, upon learning that it’s only forty minutes long, we felt like it could be a nice challenge to try and speedsub it. Whether one week counts as a speedsub or not is up to all of you to judge, but I think we did a pretty good job. Funnily, what delayed us the most was probably the encode, as the source had multiple issues that needed addressing (have you seen the horrible banding in other raws available on nyaa?). Overall we took a little longer than planned, but oh well.

I hope everyone is excited not just for our spring shows, but also the last episodes of a few shows from our backlog. What truly matters is not reviving a semi-dead group, but reviving it and keeping it alive!

Good Job! Media – Spring 2022

With Spring 2022 just around the corner, it’s finally time to announce our planned shows.

Those who paid attention to our Discord or read recent release posts carefully already knew what our spring shows were going to be. And those who didn’t… well, I’m sure they suspected it would be these.

It is truly a shame that not just two, but three GJM shows are getting sequels all in the same season. Not only that, but also each of these three shows were translated by me, Areki. Yes, those three shows are Kaguya-sama: Love is War S3, Ascendance of a Bookworm S3, and Heroine Tarumono. Unfortunately, it’d be downright unreasonable to have one fansubber translate three shows in one season (and the perfect recipe for stalling them), which is why we decided to pick up only two of them, the heavily anticipated ones: Kaguya and Bookworm.

This doesn’t mean, though, that the HoneyWorks show is completely off the table. Once we finish these spring shows and our backlog grows smaller, we might consider a release of both Heroine and the short series we also previously skipped due to overlap with other projects: Itsudatte Bokura no Koi wa 10 cm Datta.

And here’s more good news, since I know what everyone is thinking. “But you’re gonna take years to finish Kaguya again!” We have assembled a completely new typesetting team, improved our project management, and made plans on how to allocate the workload between them to ensure that there’s as little delay caused by typesetting as possible. Other than that, the staff stays mostly the same—you’ll be able to enjoy subtitles by the same translators and editors as in the previous seasons.

We hope you’re looking forward to these shows as much as we are, and thank you for choosing GJM!
