It is highly recommended to use mpv for playback. While we try to make releases compatible with vsfilter (e.g. CCCP, xy-vsfilter), our priority is to make sure it renders on mpv.
mpv is available from its official site, but can be very barebones as a media player. Third party GUIs exist:
- mpc-qt attempts to replicate the MPC-HC interface while internally running mpv. However, it may require some configuration to look like default MPC-HC. While only Windows builds are officially released, macOS and linux users should be able to build the player from source code.
- IINA is a macOS-only player based on mpv that looks like a native macOS application.
